Story Summary
The mermaid princess Ariel borrows money from Evan, a mafia don who has secretly loved her for ten years, in order to save her people—only to be forced into becoming his lover. She becomes pregnant with his child, but heartbroken by a misunderstanding, she leaps off a bridge into the sea. Six years later, having lost her memory, she returns with her daughter and joins Evan's company. He recognizes her—and their child—the moment they reunite. After enduring kidnapping, gunfire, and his ultimate sacrifice to save her, she regains her memory and realizes that he has loved her ever since she saved him from drowning sixteen years ago. In the end, he signs a peace treaty to protect her people, and she returns with her daughter to his estate—across time, memory, and the divide between species, the lighthouse finally illuminates the little mermaid's way home.
