About this short drama

Story Summary

Liora Morningstar, the head of the Morningstar Trading Guild, is the most powerful female merchant and potion master in the empire. Her husband, Sevien, once a poor street singer from the slums, was taken under her wing by Liora, who granted him her surname, status, and wealth. Though outwardly gentle and considerate, he is secretly greedy and insecure. For years, he has embezzled Liora’s vast fortune to support Isara, a student at the Arcane Academy, even secretly giving away Liora’s golden dragon and her priceless Starlight Necklace—worth three million magic crystals—to his mistress. During a noble banquet, a dispute over dragon stables erupted when Isara piloted Liora’s golden dragon into direct confrontation with her. Leveraging her false identity as "Lady Sevien," Isara acted arrogantly, ordering her noble companions to attack and injure Liora’s Imperial Blood Radiance Wyvern—one of only three surviving ancient dragon descendants in the entire empire, valued at ten million magic crystals. When Sevien arrived, instead of defending his wife, he threatened Liora into apologizing. Calmly exposing Sevien’s status as a mere moneyed son-in-law, Liora immediately froze all his accounts and revoked his access to the guild. Enraged, Sevien attempted multiple schemes: forging property contracts of the former guildmaster, kidnapping Melin to force Liora into transferring control of the guild, and attempting to flee using forbidden black magic involving life sacrifice—all of which were thwarted by Liora and the timely intervention of the late guildmaster, Jodric. Cornered, Sevien fled into the guild’s secret chamber with Isara and stole the “Advanced Dragonblood Potion Formula”—which Liora had deliberately left behind as a flawed decoy. The two then defected to Morlock, the leader of the Morningstar Guild’s arch-rival, the Black Abyss Guild, where they mass-produced and pre-sold the “Black Abyss Enhanced Dragonblood Potion.” However, the potion contained a fatal flaw: users would suffer permanent magical depletion within days. After numerous nobles fell victim and filed collective lawsuits, the Black Abyss Guild faced a severe credibility crisis. Morlock shifted all blame onto Sevien, banishing and imprisoning both of them. Desperate, Sevien learned that an underground black market auctioned an ancient dragon egg, believing that offering it to the royal family could secure his redemption. At Isara’s urging, he signed a blood pact worth one hundred million magic crystals and bid exorbitantly for the egg. But the moment it was unveiled, Liora remotely dispelled its magical disguise, revealing it to be nothing more than an ordinary stone. Burdened with crushing debt, pursued by loan sharks, victims, and the Black Abyss Guild alike, the pair were eventually captured by bounty hunters and delivered to the imperial court. In court, Liora presented a complete chain of evidence. Sevien was sentenced to forty-five years in prison, Isara to twenty, and Morlock to twenty as well. While imprisoned, Morlock secretly contacted the Assassin League, orchestrating two assassination attempts on Liora. The first occurred during a Morningstar trade banquet, where Prince Caesar, heir to the throne, intervened just in time to save her—their mutual admiration sparking a growing connection. The second attempt took place during Liora and Caesar’s royal wedding; the assassin lay hidden in the upper corridor of the cathedral but was swiftly detected and subdued by royal guards. Caesar used a magical barrier to block the poisoned arrow. Ultimately, Liora and Caesar were married in the grand cathedral. Afterward, Liora continued to independently manage the Morningstar Guild, introducing a new, safer version of dragonblood potions that benefited the entire nation and fully restored the guild’s trade routes. Upon learning of Liora’s remarriage from prison, Sevien broke down completely, weeping bitterly and living the rest of his life in remorse. Morlock received an extended sentence of life imprisonment for hiring assassins. Liora burned her old belongings, mounted her golden dragon, and stepped confidently into a brand-new chapter of her life.
