Shen Yunsheng, a goddess who sacrificed herself to seal a demon a thousand years ago, is reborn as a powerless orphan with no spiritual roots on the Heavenly Spirit Continent. She falls in love with Pei Ji, a highly talented cultivator, and bears his child. Believing she has found her lifelong partner, she faces utter ruin on their wedding day. To break through to the God Transformation Realm and curry favor with Gu Nuannuan, daughter of the Heavenly Mystery Sect’s leader, Pei Ji kills his wife to achieve enlightenment. He even cruelly strikes down their young son Pei An’an, leaving Shen Yunsheng on the brink of death, consumed by hatred. At the critical moment, God Lord Mo Yuan, who has searched for the goddess for a millennium, arrives just in time. He saves Shen Yunsheng, preserves the child’s remnant soul, lifts the seals within her body, helps her regrow her spiritual roots, and sets her on the path of cultivation. Driven by burning vengeance, Shen Yunsheng trains relentlessly. In just one year, she defies all odds and reaches the peak of the God Transformation Realm, becoming the sole female cultivator of this rank across the continent. Mo Yuan presents her with the Peerless Sword, a sacred artifact exclusive to the goddess, and she descends from the mountain to seek revenge. She marches straight into the Heavenly Mystery Sect during Pei Ji and Gu Nuannuan’s grand wedding, when the entire sect is casting a formation to aid Pei Ji’s ascension. Shen Yunsheng exposes Pei Ji’s atrocities in public, only to be mocked and insulted by the crowd, then trapped within the sect’s deadly Spirit Refining Formation. Cornered, she undergoes a phoenix rebirth and awakens her true phoenix form. She breaks the formation and counterattacks, severely wounding Sect Leader Gu Yunfeng and stunning everyone present. Desperate to survive, Pei Ji callously pushes Gu Nuannuan forward to take the blame, revealing his true hypocritical nature. Master Wuliang from the Buddhist sect threatens Shen Yunsheng with An’an’s remains, forcing her to spare Pei Ji’s life. Seizing the opportunity, Pei Ji snatches the sword and stabs her. Mo Yuan appears once more. With supreme divine power, he destroys the Heavenly Mystery Sect, strips Pei Ji of all his cultivation, and banishes him to the Nether Valley. Mo Yuan is gravely injured from reinforcing the demon’s seal beforehand, yet he chooses to heal alone rather than impose on Shen Yunsheng.
