Nora Hayes works as a night-shift baker at a supermarket in Red Creek. She keeps the cinnamon bread recipe left by her mother, Miriam Whitmore, tucked away in an old recipe box, just as she has buried her own dreams beneath the demands of her marriage. At Thanksgiving dinner, she discovers that her husband, Travis Hayes, has bought expensive gifts for his mistress, Savannah Dalton, while refusing to pay for their daughter Ellie Hayes’s epilepsy medication. Her mother-in-law, Carol Hayes, not only humiliates Nora and Ellie but also throws away Ellie’s medicine. Nora leaves home with her daughter, only to find herself stranded on a highway in a blizzard. Cole Maddox, the owner of a ranch-based food company, passes by with his convoy and rescues Ellie when she suffers a seizure. Cole’s adopted son, Owen Maddox, has long been withdrawn and unwilling to communicate, yet upon seeing Nora, he calls her “Mom” for the first time. To secure the ranch trust and help Owen, Cole proposes a six-month contract marriage. Nora accepts, but insists on earning the money to repay her daughter’s medical expenses and begins working in the ranch’s bakery. At the Red Creek Harvest Festival baking competition, Nora defeats Savannah with her family recipe, proving that she is more than a housewife dependent on someone else. Savannah and Travis repeatedly forge documents claiming ownership of the recipe and manipulate public opinion in an attempt to steal Nora’s achievements. Meanwhile, fragments of Owen’s memory begin to return. A rocking horse, an old fair, and a red balloon lead Nora to suspect that he is Ben Hayes, the son who disappeared eight years earlier. As the investigation deepens, Nora discovers that her original surname was Whitmore and that her mother, Miriam Whitmore, was once the heiress to the Whitmore orchards. A silver pocket watch, an old birth registration card, and the family recipe gradually reveal the truth about the heritage that has been hidden from her for years. Mason Pike uses forged documents to compete for the ranch’s supply contracts, while Savannah threatens Cole with a secret involving a hotel room sixteen years earlier. After enduring misunderstandings, court hearings, and a business investigation, Cole and Nora finally confirm that Owen is Ben. At the harvest lantern festival, Savannah kidnaps Ellie and demands that Nora hand over the recipe and her inheritance documents. Cole, Nora, and the police launch a rescue operation. When Ellie is injured and loses blood, Cole volunteers to donate blood for her. Subsequent testing reveals that Ellie is Cole’s long-lost biological daughter. On the harvest festival stage, the Whitmore family publicly acknowledges Nora as their heiress, and Cole announces that she is both his partner in the ranch business and his wife in every sense. Having once been forced to leave her old home, Nora finally builds a whole new family through her own abilities and choices.
