On the day Shi Ye discovered her pregnancy, she caught her boyfriend of seven years, Zhou Muchuan, preparing a marriage proposal for wealthy socialite An Xia. Heartbroken, in a fit of rage she mistakenly vandalized the luxury car of Gu Yunshen - a marriage-averse heir - covering it with flour and writing ""cheater."" This misunderstanding caused Gu's girlfriend to break up with him on the spot. When Shi Ye fainted from distress and was hospitalized, the doctor publicly announced her pregnancy, making everyone assume Gu was the father. To escape his grandfather's arranged marriage with An Xia, Gu proposed a sham marriage to Shi Ye: he would provide legitimacy for her unborn child while she would help him avoid the forced union. They hastily registered their marriage and moved in together. However, their arrangement soon faced challenges - while Gu's mother Su Manhua warmly welcomed Shi Ye, his grandfather Gu Jian'an strongly opposed the union. An Xia infiltrated the company as Gu's secretary seeking revenge, while the unwilling Zhou Muchuan reappeared as an investor. As they lived together, genuine feelings developed between them. But crisis struck when An Xia and Zhou spread rumors online that ""the child isn't Gu's,"" causing an uproar. When confronted by his father Gu Feng, Gu admitted their marriage was fake, leading to violent conflict. During a medical emergency when Shi Ye experienced bleeding, Gu's desperate plea to ""save the mother first"" revealed his true feelings that went beyond their initial contract. When the truth was fully exposed, Gu Feng publicly revealed their deception. To protect Shi Ye, Gu Yunshen defied his family, declaring he willingly accepted being the ""stepfather."" Su Manhua, who had treated Shi Ye like a daughter, felt deeply betrayed and slapped her. Witnessing Gu's sacrifice, Shi Ye left a farewell letter and disappeared with her unborn child. For five years, Gu never stopped searching. Finally, following clues to Shi Ye's hometown, he came across a little girl selling watermelons at a village stall. When the girl called out ""Mom, we have a customer!"", Shi Ye appeared - their long-awaited reunion bringing the story to its poignant conclusion.
