Jiang Ruan was once regarded by outsiders as the great love of Huo Zhizhou’s life. For five years after marriage, she gave up her career and lived as a full‑time housewife, caring for her husband, their son Suisui, and her ill mother. Yet she could never get past Su Anran, the so‑called “savior” always by Huo Zhizhou’s side. When Jiang Ruan realizes Huo Zhizhou’s indulgence toward Su Anran has crossed every line, her heart turns cold. She serves divorce papers, determined to leave this toxic marriage with her son. Haunted by childhood trauma, Huo Zhizhou holds a morbid obsession with keeping promises. Convinced Su Anran saved his life, he believes he must keep his word to take care of her forever. Furious and unwilling to accept the divorce, Huo Zhizhou is convinced Jiang Ruan cannot survive without him. He resorts to extreme coercion: secretly transferring marital assets, dismissing all her contributions to the family, cutting off costly medical treatment for her vegetative mother, using industry connections to block every job opportunity for her, and even permitting Su Anran to come to their home and humiliate her. He believes that by cutting off all her options, Jiang Ruan will beg for mercy and return to her place as Mrs. Huo and accept Su Anran’s existence. But Jiang Ruan is far more resilient than Huo Zhizhou expects. Even when she is harassed for selling her wedding ring, betrayed by her adoptive father, and sabotaged at every turn in the workplace, she never wavers from her decision to divorce. Her childhood friend Ye Yanzhi returns home and offers her support. Meanwhile, Huo Sinian, Huo Zhizhou’s elder brother, is secretly manipulating events. It was he who placed Su Anran beside Huo Zhizhou long ago, aiming to drive a wedge between the couple, trap Huo Zhizhou in emotional turmoil, and seize control of the Huo Group for himself.
